Experience That Fits the Job
Michael G. Smith is a Certified Public Accountant, operating executive, and consultant. He currently serves as president of a substantial tourism business with more than 50 employees.
Throughout his career, Michael has been responsible for evaluating complex financial information, managing budgets, and holding people accountable for results. His work requires him to look beyond surface-level explanations, ask careful questions, and make sound decisions with other people’s interests and resources in mind. Michael is running to bring that same disciplined, independent approach to the Collin Central Appraisal District Board.
Michael has been a Collin County resident for over 9 years, is married and the father of two daughters. He believes the appraisal district must earn trust by treating people fairly, explaining their decisions clearly, and using taxpayer resources responsibly.
This is the kind of public service that appeals to him: technical, often unnoticed work that materially affects people’s lives. The CAD board needs directors willing to understand the details, ask difficult questions, and do the patient work of oversight.
